Maison de l'Outre-Mer comprises associations run by the French law of 1901, including the association Mémoire de l'Outre-Mer.
It acts on cultural, social, and economic areas, aiming at French overseas departments and territories.
Its activities :
¤ It is a shop window for overseas : proposing information about tourism, products and associative life in overseas departments, organising cultural events, exhibitions, conferences, concerts…
¤ it is an embassy of overseas : receiving personalities, being the main representative of overseas associations, favouring the insertion of people from overseas, welcoming anyone interesting in overseas.
Mémoire de l'Outre-Mer (Run by a french law of 1901) has three main missions:
¤ Historical : This task is fundamental for a research of identity of the overseas community
¤ Cultural : That important approach allow us to get in touch with local population and to make easier the mutual discovering of cultures. For our community, it is also a mean of public expression, to make oneself known and to go towards one another.
¤ Social : It is a hard task because people from overseas islands suffer the same realities as immigrant people. (employment, housing, formation…) More and more, this function takes an important part of the activity of our association. Indeed, the Loire-Atlantique area becomes more and more attractive for young people from overseas territories.
